How does it work?

Invisalign is a teeth straightening procedure that uses virtually invisible clear braces.

Invisalign is the world’s most advanced tooth straightening system, having improved millions of smiles. Most people are suitable for these aligners, with treatment lasting from 7 weeks to 18 months for more complex cases.

The braces are worn every day for a recommended 22 hours a day so that they can discreetly and gradually improve and change your smile. The comfortable aligners are just removed to eat and drink and also allow you to maintain your regular oral hygiene.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

  1. As long as you are dentally fit and clinically suitable for Invisalign, we provide a FREE smile evaluation. This will allow you to see what your finished smile could look like using our outcome simulator software on our state-of-the-art iTero digital scanner before you commit to treatment.
  2. If you are 100% happy to proceed with the treatment we then take photos, X-rays and detailed scans of your teeth. These create a 3D ClinCheck treatment plan just for you, to show the series of movements that your teeth are projected to go through.
  3. Your custom made aligners are manufactured and delivered to us at The Old Stables Dental Practice. We then arrange your first appointment.
  4. We provide you with enough aligners to change at home until we have a review, so we can monitor progress and give you more aligners. These reviews are approximately every 6 weeks so we can ensure the teeth are tracking and we can check the fit of the aligners.
  5. Whitening is often included in your treatment plan, as is Composite Bonding, which improves the appearance of any worn edges after the teeth are aligned.
  6. Once you are happy with your new smile we then fit Vivera retainers to maintain your new tooth position and keep your smile straight.

What a wonderful place – far removed from the usual Dentist Practice that sends shivers down one’s spine. Mim and the team have been nothing short of superb. Invisalign was my chosen entry into the practice which I have to say has been a real game changer for me. I can’t stress enough about how easy it was and the results are fantastic.

Frequently asked questions

  • Will Invisalign affect my speech?

You may find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.

  • Are the aligners comfortable?

Yes, Invisalign aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for up to 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin.

  • How long do I need to wear the aligners for each day?

You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day in order for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.

  • How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign treatments are completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases have a faster treatment time, whilst patients needing more complex straightening can expect to wear their aligners for longer. We can advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.

  • Will I need to wear retainers after my treatment?

Yes, in order to keep your teeth in their new positions after treatment, you will need to wear retainers. Teeth have a habit of moving out of place over time, so you will need to wear retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight.
