“New faces, happy news and plenty to smile about this autumn.”

A Warm Welcome to Kate Barker

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Kate Barker, our lovely new Dental Hygienist, to the Old Stables team.

Kate qualified as a Dental Hygienist at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in 2006, having already spent more than ten years working as a dental nurse. With such a wealth of experience behind her, Kate brings not only considerable clinical knowledge, but also the warm, reassuring approach to patient care that is so important to us.

Kate is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles through preventative care, personalised advice and gentle, effective treatment. She has particular experience in the maintenance of dental implants and is also qualified to use a dental laser in the treatment of gum disease.

Most importantly, Kate is wonderfully friendly and approachable — and she has fitted into the team incredibly quickly. Our patients are already complimenting her on her lovely manner, which hasn’t surprised us one bit! We think Kate is very much an “Old Stables style” member of the team, and we know our patients are going to enjoy getting to know her.

Away from dentistry, Kate loves spending time with her husband and their two children, Zoe and Noah. She enjoys yoga, sewing, interior design and natural health — but her absolute favourite escape is the family’s annual camping trip with friends to Croyde Bay in Devon.

Welcome to the herd, Kate — we’re so pleased to have you!

A Very Special New Arrival 💙

We are absolutely delighted to share some very happy news from our Old Stables family!

Our lovely Hygiene Therapist, Rachel Turford, has welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Freddie Raye, into the world.

Freddie completes their little family and is a much-loved baby brother for Arthur, who has a very important new role of his own!

We couldn’t be happier for them and send the whole family our warmest congratulations and lots of love as they enjoy this very special time together.

Welcome to the world, little Freddie!

Wonderful Whitening Wednesday is Back!

Our Summer Whitening Campaign for 18–25 year olds is still going strong, but we’re delighted to announce the return of one of our ever-popular Whitening Wednesdays!

Wednesday 23rd September 2026

And this time, it’s for everyone!

If you’ve been thinking about brightening your smile, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a little extra sparkle. Our Whitening Wednesdays are always popular, so give our friendly team a call and reserve your appointment while spaces are still available.

For your safety, we do need to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy before whitening. You’ll therefore need to have had an up-to-date dental examination within the previous six months before your whitening appointment. If you’re due for a check-up, just speak to us and we can help arrange this for you.

A brighter, fresher smile could be just one Wednesday away!

Free cancer checks in November

A 10-Minute Check That Could Make All the Difference

Throughout Mouth Cancer Awareness Month this November, we will be offering FREE 10-minute mouth cancer checks at The Old Stables Dental Practice.

These checks are open to everyone — whether you are an existing patient, haven’t visited us for some time, or have never been to our practice before.

You do not need to book or pay for a full dental examination; simply reserve one of our dedicated 10-minute appointments.

Mouth cancer can often develop without pain or obvious symptoms, which means changes may go unnoticed. As with many cancers, early detection is extremely important and can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment.

So, whether for yourself or someone you care about, please take advantage of this opportunity — and help us spread the word.
