Traditional fixed braces remain one of the most effective and predictable ways to align teeth precisely. We offer both metal and clear ceramic options for patients who prefer a more discreet aesthetic.
Ceramic brackets can lengthen treatment time by approximately 20%, but offer an elegant, low-visibility alternative.

Your Treatment Journey
Assessment
- Thorough orthodontic assessment consultation including scan, photos and x-rays after detailed discussion with you about your needs, wants and goals.
Fitting Appointment Brackets and wires are carefully fitted.
- In some cases, brackets are placed in stages to allow for efficient tooth movement.
- Photographs are taken periodically to track progress.
Review Appointments
- Adjustments, wire and elastic changes are made every 6–8 weeks.
- Brackets positions may be tweaked for optimal results.
Completion Phase
Once both you and your clinician are satisfied with the alignment, the teeth are stabilised for approximately three weeks before removing the braces and fitting retainers.
Retainer Fit
You will have a choice of fixed wire retainers in addition to your removeable retainers.
Maintenance
We recommend regular dental examinations every six months, and that you bring your retainers to each appointment for review.
You are warmly invited to remain under our care, or we can liaise seamlessly with your own dentist.
Frequently asked questions
Are fixed braces uncomfortable to wear?
Initially, patients may experience some discomfort or soreness after getting their braces adjusted. However, this discomfort typically subsides within a few days as your mouth adjusts to the pressure. Over-the-counter pain relievers and orthodontic wax can help alleviate any discomfort during this adjustment period.
How long does fixed orthodontic treatment typically take?
Fixed orthodontic treatment duration varies depending on the severity of the misalignment and individual patient factors. On average, treatment can last anywhere from 12 months to 36 months. We will provide a personalised estimate during your initial consultation.
